Special Instructions:

Do not operate any extinguisher if either the shell or cartridge shows signs of
mechanical damage or corrosion.  The cartridge must be removed and de-pressurized
prior to disposal.  Hydrostatic test must be performed on damaged or corroded
shell.  (See FPFIREEXHYDROT).


Items to Check & Initial Completion:

1. ___ Remove any obstructions to visibility and easy accessibility.
2. ___ Inspect for dents, broken hanger attachments or handle,
       corrosion at seams, damaged threads, and legible operating instructions.
3. ___ Weigh carbon dioxide extinguisher and compare to stamped gross or full
       weight.(usually shown on valve body).
4. ___ Check for signs of damage or tampering.  If seal is broken, remove
       cartridge. Replace any cartridge that has lost its gas.  (Weigh
       replacement cartridge).Refill shell to proper level with extinguishing
       agent.
5. ___ Inspect for damaged, jammed, bent or corroded puncture lever, pin, and
       fastener on puncture mechanism, for gas cartridges.
6. ___ Inspect valves and carrying handles for corroded or damaged handles,
       springs, stems, fasteners, joints, threads, and jammed levers.
7. ___ Replace cracked, cut, or brittle hose, nozzle or horn, and damaged
       couplings. Remove any obstructions in nozzle, horns, or hose.
8. ___ Check for leaks.
9. ___ Replace seal or tamper indicator.  Tag extinguisher and replace on hanger.
10.___ Clean up work area and remove all trash upon completion of inspection and
       test
