Integrating MainBoss with Building Automation Systems

MainBoss Maintenance Management software has the potential to be integrated with any building automation system capable of sending email. This is usually a straightforward process that requires no special interface between the two software packages. As long as a BAS can output email alerts, MainBoss software can process the alerts and incorporate them into a standard work order process.

The key to the process are two pieces of software: MainBoss @Requests and MainBoss WRNotifier. @Requests accepts email messages sent to a designated address and creates work requests from the contents of those messages. WRNotifier notifies maintenance personnel when a new request has been received (and can send alerts to pagers or cell-phones if they’re email-enabled). Put these together with the BAS alerts and you get the following process:

  1. The BAS detects problem. It sends an email message to MainBoss @Requests.
  2. WRNotifier tells maintenance personnel a new request has arrived.
  3. After completion, work and results are recorded in equipment history records.
  4. Maintenance supervisor creates work order using request info and assigns personnel to the job.
  5. @Requests creates a work request in the MainBoss database.
