1. Thinkage Ltd is a Microsoft Certified Partner!

Since December 15, 2003 Thinkage Ltd is a proud Microsoft Certified Partner and since October 22nd, 2003 the latest release of MainBoss 2.9 has been granted “Verified for Windows XP” status. While Thinkage staff works hard to achieve and maintain a certified partner relationship with Microsoft, what does this mean to you, the end user?

Being a certified partner means that Microsoft recognized the expertise of our development team and rewards us for the total impact we have in today’s technology marketplace. The partnership program also allows us to receive tools and resources from Microsoft that help us design a better software program for you. As a certified Microsoft partner, Thinkage’s developers demonstrated their proficiency in software development and as a result have the latest Microsoft technologies available to them. In exchange, Microsoft measures our development performance against several key items including certifications, customer references and tested Microsoft solutions. Maintaining a certified partnership with Microsoft aids in the development of a quality software solution and gives our customers the assurance of working with a reputable and competent software vendor.

MainBoss 2.9 update 4 has been verified for Windows XP. While this test has since been replaced with a similar test, the Verified for Window XP certification is an important part of developing a quality software program that is compliant and stable within a Windows environment. Part of the testing that MainBoss 2.9 update 4 went through consisted of:

-         Checking whether the program will hang, crash, lose date or behave incorrectly in Windows XP

o       when used with a mouse with more than three buttons;

o       when presented with long paths, file names and printer names;

o       when installed and used on a dual-processor system

-         Ensuring that

o       the program does not replace files protected by Windows File Protection

o       the program installs to Program Files by default

o       any shared files are installed to the correct locations

o        “Add or Remove Programs” works properly

o       Application data is stored and classified properly

These are just a few of the tests that MainBoss 2.9 update 4 had to pass in order to achieve its “Verified for Windows XP” status. Passing all test components means that MainBoss 2.9 update 4 has passed Microsoft’s verification standard to work properly within the Windows XP environment.

2.  Forgot your Administrator password? No problem!

MainBoss 2.9 requires that an administrator password is chosen the first time the program is opened. Whereas in previous versions of MainBoss the software supplied a default password, MainBoss 2.9 gives the user total freedom to specify this password. The benefit is of course, that the user can set the password to something that is easy for him or her to remember. As a drawback, if that administrator password is forgotten and no one else knows what it is, MainBoss head office won’t be able to supply it for you either. Fortunately, we have the ability to create an emergency password that will allow the user to access MainBoss and reset the administrator password. While we can’t tell you what the original password is, we can get you into the program so that you can choose a new one. All you need to do is call or email tech support and supply us with your license key. This license key can be found by opening your MainBoss 2.9 program, clicking on Administration, then License Keys.

As can be seen from the snapshot above, your license key is a 20 digit series of letters and numbers, which combine to determine your support expiry date and how many user licenses your system is registered for.

Providing an emergency password to get you back into the system is a free service to active customers! No support incident will be used up by contacting us regarding forgotten passwords.
