2. Take advantage of the free! Work Request Notifier
The MainBoss Work Request Notifier is a free add-on program to Mainboss 2.8. By installing the Work Request Notifier on your computer, you will be notified when a new work request has been received in the MainBoss database (either through the Work Request function within Mainboss 2.8 or through MainBoss @Requests). Notification can be a flashing icon, a sound, or an e-mail sent to your pager system…whatever will work best for you. This program will be especially beneficial to those people responsible for turning work requests into work orders. Rather than constantly having to check MainBoss to see if a new work request has been received, you can simply let the Work Request Notifier alert you. You can download the program from this link or if you have a MainBoss 2.8 CD at your office, you can install the Notifier from the CD.

3. Did you know: MainBoss @Requests—The Everybody Account
MainBoss @Requests allows for automatic addition of new
users through the Everybody account. Found under Administration->Accounts,
the Everybody account specifies that any new person who emails a work request
to MainBoss @Requests is automatically added to the list of requestors. Rather
than having to manually type in all of the requestors, simply let the Everybody
account do the work for you. In order to utilize this feature, go to
Administration->Accounts and make sure the Disabled checkbox is not marked.
Then tell all your requestors to start emailing their requests to the email
address set up for MainBoss @Requests. As soon as an email from a new requestor
is received, MainBoss creates an entry in MainBoss @Requests and in the
Contacts table of your MainBoss database. You should be aware however that only
as many new accounts will be created up to your license limit. For example, if
you have a 25 Requestor license for MainBoss @Requests and the Everybody
Account is enabled, then the first 25 people who email a request will be added
as Requestors. For more information please refer to your MainBoss @Requests
manual. You should be aware that MainBoss can’t differentiate between different
email addresses from the same person. For example, if Joe sends an email from joe@company.com and another email from jsmith@home.com, then MainBoss will assume
this to be two different people and create two requestor entries. Therefore
advise your requestors to always send their requests from the same email
address. Also, in the Contacts table of MainBoss, only the name of the person
and their email address will be added as a new record. A MainBoss Administrator
or other person designated to keep the database updated should edit the
Contacts table to fill in any other important information.
