1. MainBoss Training Certificates now available!

MainBoss now offers certificates to anyone who completes a MainBoss training session. Whether you receive training by head office or by one of our capable MainBoss representatives in your area, upon completion of the training session your name will be submitted and a training certificate will be mailed to you. Training certificates contain your name, the date of the training session, what version of MainBoss you were trained on and an authentic MainBoss gold seal. The certificates are hand signed by the Director of MainBoss and the Manager of Customer Service & Training.

To receive your certificate, which can be framed and will make a beautiful addition to your wall of achievements, please give your full name to your trainer. You can also call head office with your name, the name of the company you work for, what date you were trained on and who trained you. Certificates will be sent to you via regular mail in a non-bendable envelope.

So, to anyone having received training in the last few weeks or about to receive training – make sure you get your certificate…you deserve it!

2. Did you know: New Generate PM frequency function in MainBoss 2.9

In MainBoss 2.9, changes have been made to the way the PM generation frequency advances itself.

Here is how it used to work in MainBoss 2.8:

The user defines the PM generation frequency under Administration‑>Preferences‑>Other by entering how many days the generator should advance after each time PM work orders are generated. A common frequency is 7 days, meaning that if PM work orders were generated for March 1, 2003, the date field will automatically advance itself to March 8th, 2003. The next time PM work orders are generated, regardless of when, the date field would automatically advance another 7 days, to March 15th, 2003. So, if the user generates 3 times in one day, the date field would have advanced itself by three weeks and the user would have to manually change the date every time back to the current date.

In order to avoid this manual editing and the confusion which may occur if this date somehow gets too far from the current date, the PM generation frequency function has been improved. Here is how it works in MainBoss 2.9:

The user defines the PM generation frequency under Administration->Preferences            ->Other, entering a value that represents how often PM work orders are generated. If the value 7 is entered, it means that the PM generation frequency is 7 days. In other words, PM work orders are to be generated for the next 7 days after the current date. The difference between 2.8 and 2.9, is that in 2.9, the date field will always be displayed as 7 days from the current date, not 7 days from the last date for which PM work orders were generated. This allows for multiple generations in one day without the date field advancing itself several weeks ahead.

For example, if today was March 1st, 2003 and the user generated PM work orders today, the date field would be set to March 8th, 2003. If the user generates again today, the date field would remain at March 8th, 2003. If the user generates again tomorrow, the date would have advanced itself to March 9th, 2003 since that would be 7 days from the current date. With this new feature, manual editing of the generation date field is minimized, preventing the user from accidentally generating for a wrong date or generating too far in advance. Also, the user will never find the generation date to be in the past, as would have happened in MainBoss 2.8 after he or she had returned from vacation or a plant shutdown.
