1. MainBoss 2.8, Update 5 now available
MainBoss 2.8 Update 5 is now available to all
MainBoss customers who have a current subscription to the MainBoss Annual
Support Plan. The update is can be downloaded from the MainBoss website: www.mainboss.com..
Following are some of the new features and
fixed available through this update:
-The MAKE of a unit record now appears on the printed workorder and on the
maintenance status report.
-If there are no inventory transactions for a particular storeroom, and if
there are no inventory materials stored in that storeroom, the storeroom name
will not appear on the inventory status report after the database is reindexed.
-The Work Order History Report now includes the Task Identification in the
details of the Work Order.
-The 'Void' operation on the Work Request Browser now changes to 'Reopen' while
browsing voided Work Requests.
-The Purchase Order History report now includes the Cost Center identification
beside the "Completed/Issued/Closed Order" status line
-Printing a Purchase Order now includes an option to suppress costs on the
printed output similar to printing Work Orders
-The Labor History report didn't have sufficient range for printing the total
labor hours if the total exceeded 999 hours.
-Changing User Permissions no longer requires you to enter the user's password
if you leave the password input field blank.
-Searching for Work Order subjects and/or Personnel names where Upper/lowercase
characters are allowed has been fixed.
These are only some of the new features
available in this update. All Annual Support Plan subscribers have already been

2. How to minimize data losses due to power outages
During the hot summer months, electrical storms and power shortages are more common and can have serious effects on your MainBoss data if the files are active while your computer goes down. Here are a few tips to help you minimize your chance of losing data due to power outages:
Should you find your database files corrupted after your computer was subjected to a power outage and you are a subscriber of the Annual Support Plan, it is best to contact MainBoss customer service immediately. Our service team will do their best to recover your damaged files.

4. Upcoming Tradeshows: Canada and USA
· Atlantic Industrial Exhibition will be held on September 18th and 19th, 2002 at the Exhibition Park in Halifax, Nova Scotia. MainBoss will be demonstrated in booth 604.
· BOMEX 2002 will be held September 19th and 20th at the Palais des Congres de Montreal in Montreal, Quebec. MainBoss will be demonstrated in booth 204.
· Canadian Manufacturing Week will be held September 24th to 26th at the International Place in Mississauga, Ontario. MainBoss will be demonstrated in booth 1511.
