2. Did you know: Using multiple languages for MainBoss

A useful feature of Windows is the ability to run the same program in several languages. By creating a shortcut of MainBoss on your PC’s desktop and attaching a code specifying the language to the target field of the Shortcut’s Properties, you can have multiple versions of MainBoss running in different languages. Windows has coded the various languages so that programs recognize them. Following is a list of language codes that are currently supported by MainBoss:

English (US): 0009

English (Canada): 1009

English (South Africa): 1c09

English (United Kingdom): 0809

French (Canada): 0c0c

French: 000c

German: 0007

Portuguese: 0016 and 0416

Spanish: 000a

In order to use MainBoss with multiple languages, just follow these steps:

  1. Make sure that you have the MainBoss language file installed. Run the installation of your current version of MainBoss. The first screen will have the options Modify, Repair, and Remove on it. Choose Modify. The screen allows you to select the languages, which you would like to install. Under the Help Files menu, simply checkmark the ones you would like and proceed through the rest of the installation.
  2. Next, create shortcuts for MainBoss on your desktop so that you have one for each language you would like to use. It is useful to name the shortcuts MainBoss-English, MainBoss-Spanish, and so on.
  3. By default the shortcuts will use the language that your computer is set to under your Regional Options. For example, if your computer is set to United States English, all the shortcuts will display MainBoss in that language. Therefore one of your shortcuts is already set up and ready to go.
  4. For each further shortcut, right-click on the shortcut icon and select Properties from the resulting menu.
  5. Go to the Shortcut tab and find the Target field. This field gives the location of the MainBoss executable. For example, it may state: "C:\Program Files\MainBoss\2.8\mboss.exe".
  6. Set your curser to the end of this string and type in a space followed by: /langid:0007, where the number refers to the code of the language you would like to use.
  7. For example, if your shortcut is for MainBoss-Canadian French, then your target field should state: "C:\Program Files\MainBoss\2.8\mboss.exe" /langid:0c0c
  8. Now click OK to save the changes and close the Properties window. The next time you double-click on this shortcut, it will display MainBoss in your chosen language.
