MainBoss 2.9
Update 5 and @Requests 1.2 Update 4 now available
Thinkage Ltd is pleased to announce the release of MainBoss 2.9 Update 5 and @Requests 1.2 Update 4. Both are available to customers who have a current support plan subscription. The updates can be downloaded from our website through the Support tab. Here are just a few of the new features found in the updates:
MainBoss 2.9 Update 5:
· The behavior has changed for "From" and "To" fields, in Report dialogs plus other fields where you specify a pair of values to indicate a range. If you type a value into the field that indicates the start of the range, MainBoss automatically puts the same value into the field that indicates the end of the range if it currently empty.
· In many windows, the Cancel button now changes to Close once you have saved the data shown in the window.
· The Unit report now has a Suppress costs option. If this is check marked, the report will not contain the costs of the equipment. This is useful if you intend to give the report to personnel who need equipment lists but who don't need (or shouldn't be told) cost information.
· All browsers now have a Search button instead of the old navigation bar. Clicking Search will let you search for a record whose description or code begins with a specified string.
· The Work Order History report can now sort results by access code.
MainBoss @Requests 1.2 Update 4:
·
Previous
versions had a bug that sometimes prevented POP3 passwords from being saved.
This has now been fixed.
·
Previously,
email that was encoded in quoted-printable format sometimes didn't have soft
carriage-returns decoded properly. This has now been fixed.

Story of the
Month for March: One man’s shortcut is another’s flood
Congratulations to the Story of the Month winner Logan Wallace for submitting his story “One man’s shortcut is another’s flood” in March 2005. Remember, if you have a funny story to share, please email it to stories@mainboss.com for your chance to win some great prizes.
One man's
shortcut is another's flood
“Wallace tells us that during a cold snap, a drainpipe froze at ground level. Unfortunately, the pipe was still open on higher floors. Water flowing down started to back up and flooded several building tenants.
Plumbers worked on replacing the frozen pipes. Meanwhile, the maintenance crew diverted the water into a barrel and started cleaning up the mess. People on the crew took turns emptying the barrel.
At the end of the day, the last worker had to empty the barrel before he left. Plumbers were still on site. The worker decided that instead of dragging the barrel all the way to the janitor closet, he would empty it into the floor drain right beside him.
Wouldn’t you know...the plumbers
were replacing the pipe attached to the drain. Five
minutes later the door burst open and there was a plumber soaked from head to
foot. Oops!”
